The Birth

The Birth is the bridgework in my Gumball Dream series. For me, it’s both a transition and a beginning. The conditions and possibilities for life to emerge are countless, yet ultimately only one life is born in the warm bed of sugar filaments, expressing the preciousness of birth. The candy heart used in the animation resembles the core of life among all things, and only this moment, this form, can nurture life. To me, this is the most beautiful existence.

The choice of cotton candy as the material symbolizing new life, and through its fragile and ephemeral nature, I sought to explore birth and life in a pure and sweet manner. Building upon the foundational experimental work of my previous pieces, this piece continues to employ procedural methods while challenging new complexities in the cotton candy thread effect in Maya.
