10;29 PM is about avoiding security guards and racing against the deadline of assignments. Inspiration comes from the fact that my school decided to cancel the overnight policy last semester. In my view, this has taken away the freedom of students to have their own time in creating their own art. In a way of protesting the policy, I chose to express myself through the interactive medium of a game, representing the voice of the students.
The game draws from personal experiences, capturing the anxiety over assignment deadlines, definitely a familiar experience for most college students. Players must race even though time and space should be domains for free creative expression.
Furthermore, the cake-designing game on the computer within the game not only reflects my personal interest in cooking, but the cake itself symbolizes the joy and solace found in the creative process. It allows players to experience the passion of creation rather than merely the drudgery of completing an assignment. No matter their background or profession, the game immerses players in the role and simulates the tension and injustice inherent in this experience.
